Race for Life at Stamford

A big well done to staff from Market Harborough who took part in Cancer Research UK’s Race for Life a week ago.

The 13 brave runners donned their trainers to join 2,500 other women in the popular race and raised over £2000 for the charity - incredible!

Most of us know at least one person that has been affected by Cancer, and Cancer Research UK relies on these events and donations to continue their ongoing work with a goal of eradicating this terrible disease for good.

For one of our runners, Trish Polgreen, this race was especially poignant as she sadly lost her father, two sisters, brother and friend to cancer and she ran this race in memory of them.

"There are so many amazing and inspiring people out there, not just the cancer sufferers but also their families and friends who are with them every step of the way. I ran this race not just for those I loved so dearly but also for every cancer sufferer out there to let them know that they shouldn’t lose hope. They have every chance of beating cancer!"

The runners ran valiantly in the warm sunshine, cheering each other on the whole way. Times ranged from a super-speedy 28 minutes to a more leisurely (but still fantastic!) hour.

No matter what their times were we are so proud of all our runners for taking part and raising money for such a worthy cause.

Thanks to our runners Sharon Broome, Trish Polgreen, Jilly Sneath, Hannah Neale, Victoria Clayton, Jo Chambers, Rachel Jackson, Linda Dominiak, Julie Jack, Claudia Burdett, Penny Barnwell-Thornton, Alison Orton and Jill Griffiths!
